The infection is spreading. It starts with a vague hunger, something is missing deep inside. Something is needed. After that comes the longing, the deep want for something to fill the void. Twitching sets in eventually, muscles moving of their own accord. Soon, those infected begin to move, infecting others and spreading the desire, the hunger. Soon a few of the infected gather together. And then a few more. Soon a hoard descends on the city, spreading the infection to anyone they come into contact with.
And that, boys and girls, is how a convention is started. Welcome to 2011; the year of the Apocalypse. The year that Montreal will fall under the teeming masses of furries.

1. Guests Of Honour
Guests Of Honour? Why yes! We have them! Two wonderful artists of high skill have graciously accepted to brave the zombie hordes to be our Guests this year.
Kalika Tybera – A native of Montreal, she has been enticed to return to her home and native land from the faraway place of Vermont, where she lives with her husband and two cats (or is that two cats and her husband?) She is a traditional media who is now working as a fulltime commission artist within the fandom and loves doing what she does. In her free time outside of the art world Kalika is a big fan of the horror genre and boasts a sizeable horror movie collection, is avidly interested in all things paranormal, enjoys videogames and loves reading about a variety of topics such as art, animals, crypto-zoology, fashion design and design in general.
Demicoeur – Hailing from one of those concrete jungles of Ontario, this wonderful artist will be wading through the hordes to bring you her wonderful artwork. At the time of publishing, not much is known about this artist, however our intelligence officers will be reporting back shortly with details.

2. Hotel Info
We have once again decided to return to the Espresso Hotel. All of the renovations have been completed and the rooms are absolutely gorgeous! And as of this moment, the room block is open for reservation!
Standard rooms will be $110/night, running from the night of the 2nd of June (Thursday) right through to checkout on Monday. The cut off date will be may 6th 2011, so don’t risk losing out on a room in the main hotel. Book early. Our code is “What The Fur”, and you have to call the hotel directly for reservations at either (514) 938-4611 or toll free at 1-877-468-3550.

3. Pitch in and run something!
We need all you talented, knowledgeable furs to run panels, classes, and discussion groups at this year’s What The fur. So if you have an area of interest or expertise, please contact us! All topics and ideas are welcomed for proposal! Subjects like art (general or specific), fursuiting (building, maintenance, performance, social, etc), cosplay, the furry fandom, hobbies, social/meet and greet, etc. are needed. We may not use everything, but we’ll definitely discuss it.

4. Artwork & Stories Wanted!
What The Fur is looking for furry Zombie-themed artwork and writing to be featured in our conbook, on flyers, and other areas of the convention. We’re going to be selecting many different pieces, so feel free to submit as many designs as you like.

L’infection se propage. Elle commence avec une faim étrange, quelque-chose manque, à l’intérieur de soit. On ressent le besoin de quelque-chose. Cet après que s’en vient la lancinante, profonde envie de quelque-chose pour combler ce vide. On ressent alors des spasmes, les muscles bougent d’eux mêmes. Bientôt, ceux qui sont infectés commencent à bouger, infectant les autres et propageant ce désir, cette faim. C’est alors qu’une poignée d’infectés se réunissent... et d’autres se joignent à eux. Sous peu, une horde envahi la ville, développant l’infection sur quiconque qui entre en contact avec eux.
Et ceci, Mesdames et Messieurs, est comment une convention débute. Bienvenue à WTF 2011: l’année de l’apocalypse. L’année où Montréal va tomber sous les masses de furries.

1. Invités d’honneur
Kalika Tybera - Une originaire de Montréal, encouragée à revenir dans sa contrée natale depuis les fins fonds du Vermont, où elle vie avec son mari et 2 chats (ou serait-ce plutôt ses 2 chats “et” son mari?). Kalika est une artiste reconnue qui travaille à temps plein dans la communauté et adore ce qu’elle fait. A ses heures perdue, en dehors du monde artistique, Kalika est une grande amatrice du genre horrifique et dispose d’une impressionnante collection de films d’horreur, est également avidement intéressée par ce qui touche au paranormal, aime les jeux vidéos et adore lire des choses qui traitent de différents sujets comme l’art, les animaux, la crypto-zoologie, la mode et le stylisme en général.
Demicoeur - Il nous salut de sa jungle de béton en Ontario, ce grand artiste va se balader dans les hordes pour vous apporter son merveilleux art. A l’heure actuelle, cet artiste est assez peu connu, cependant, nos commis de recherche nous rapporterons bientôt des détails.

2. Informations sur l’hôtel
Nous avons décidé de retourner une nouvelle fois à l’Hôtel Espresso. L’ensemble des rénovations ont été achevées et les chambres son parfaitement magnifiques! De plus, le bloc de chambres est ouvert à la réservation!
Les chambres standards seront à 110$/nuit, à partir du 2 juin (jeudi) droit jusqu’à lundi. La date butoir est le 6 mai 2011, alors ne risquez pas de manquer une chambre dans l’hôtel principal. 3. Participez et organisez quelque-chose!
Nous avons besoin de chacun d’entre vous, talentueux furs pour organiser des réunions, classes et groupe de discussions à What The Fur cette année. Donc, si vous avez un centre d’intérêt ou un domaine d’expertise, contactez-nous! Tous les sujets peuvent être proposés! Les éléments comme l’art (général ou spécifique), déguisement fursuit (confection, entretien, prestation, socialisation, etc.), cosplay, la communauté furry, loisirs, rencontres sociales et accueil, etc. sont nécessaires. Nous allons peut-être ne pas faire usage de tout, mais nous allons très certainement en discuter.
